An horizon portrait at La Silla observatory’s left runway (called "El pelicano"). The star traces are made when the camera is mounted upon a tripod and the shutter is opened many minutes. The big object to the right are, of course, the Moon; at her left side, the trace of planet Venus. The white line down is produced by trucks and a group of lights at Panamericana, the highway about 5 kms. away from this site.
